How it went - Aphrodite shoot

I had the Aphrodite shoot yesterday collaborating with a first year photography student Peter. Before the shoot I was a bit worried that we weren’t going to be able to capture the right footage as I knew that Peter doesn’t have much experience with videoing within the studios as Chris had told me the day before, however I was very happy with the final outcomes. The model suits the look which I was going for and she was comfortable in front of the camera to do the poses that I wanted her to.

For the shoot I restyled the wig as it was a bit out of shape where I had it in a big since the last shoot. I think that the hair looks better as it is fuller and I cut more of the lace off as it was very difficult to try and edit the lace out. While putting the wig onto the model I also placed it further forward on her forehead so that her natural hair line was completely covered.

Peter was really professional and he had obviously done a bit of research of how to create cinemagraphs in his own time as he was double checking with me what materials I needed to get from the shoot. I really enjoyed working with Peter as he was professional, friendly and we also bounced ideas off of each other and he gave his views on my project which is always helpful. Peter said after the shoot that he is really interested in Greek mythology and would really like to help out for all of the shoots if it would work around his own deadlines and assignments.

From working with Peter I have learnt that it’s really important to get a good photographer who is also interested in your topic as they can have a positive influence on the shoot as they show interest in making the shoot look its best.

The rest of this week I plan to make a start on finishing ideas and designs for all of the other characters I have chosen for my project. Later this afternoon I have an IT lesson where Jon will be showing us how to create cinemagraphs.

After the lesson with Jon I began creating the cinemagraph however I found that there was too much movement in the models face around the eyes so I was unable to make a cinemagraph.

I created a cinema graph that  form the shoot, it wasn't very successful as there was too much movement in the models eye area to be able to make the cinemagraph. This was really disappointing, in the future I will have to ensure the the models face does not move at all, i could even capture a shorter time of video, i think a few seconds would be enough to make a simple eye movement cinemagraph. I am unable to upload it onto the blog because blogger does not support the file type.
